Fostering Alberta's New Economy
Efforts are being made to strengthen and diversify Alberta’s economy. The ASC supports these efforts by ensuring appropriate securities regulation that protects investors, and fosters a vibrant capital market that facilitates access to capital by Alberta businesses and investment opportunities for Alberta investors.
By engaging with market participants, ASC staff can better understand the challenges new economy companies face in accessing capital. We are exploring new financial technologies the use of which intersects with securities law. And we also work with market participants who are hoping to deploy new financial technologies to navigate the securities regulatory regime and enhance their understanding of relevant initiatives that may assist them.
Our recently formed New Economy Advisory Committee helps the ASC build connections in the community and explore how securities regulation can evolve to support economic diversification, while still providing appropriate investor protection.
