Stan Magidson, ICD.D Mr. Magidson is Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Alberta Securities Commission, and possesses extensive experience in corporate governance and securities law and regulation. Before joining the ASC in July 2016, he was President, CEO and director of the Institute of Corporate Directors and Chair of the Global Network of Director Institutes. Prior, Mr. Magidson was a partner for 21 years with a national law firm in the business law group where he advised corporate issuers, investors, financial intermediaries and boards of directors across the country on securities law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters. Mr. Magidson currently serves on the international board of the Weizmann Institute of Science and the board of Weizmann Canada. Mr. Magidson holds an LL.M in Corporate Law from New York University and an LL.B from the University of Ottawa. |

Tom Cotter Mr. Cotter was appointed Vice-Chair in April 2014. Prior to his employment with the Commission Mr. Cotter was a partner in the business law group with a national law firm, where he advised companies and investment firms on public offerings, private placements, cross-border financings, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, recapitalizations, going-private transactions, corporate governance, proxy contests and regulatory compliance. |

Kari Horn Ms. Horn was appointed Vice-Chair in May 2018. She possesses over 23 years of experience in the legal profession and an extensive background in securities law and regulation. Prior to her appointment to Vice-Chair Ms. Horn was a member of the ASC’s senior management team as General Counsel since 2005. In this role, she led the group responsible for providing specialized legal advisory services to the Commission, staff, and market participants. She also assisted in formulation of the Commission’s strategic policy direction and provided research and advice on emerging issues. Before joining the ASC, Ms. Horn practised securities and corporate law as a partner at TingleMerrett LLP, and as an associate at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Ms. Horn holds degrees in business and law from Bishop’s University and the University of Victoria, respectively. |

Dr. Ian Beddis Dr. Beddis became a Member in April 2013 and serves as Chair of the ASC's Audit Committee. He has more than 37 years of experience working in the financial services field. Dr. Beddis has sat on numerous boards and is currently Co-Chairman of the Brock University Presidents Advisory Board and sits as a board member for the Strathcona Tweedsmuir School Foundation, the Theatre Calgary Foundation and the Carthy Foundation. In addition to his Masters in Economics, Dr. Beddis received an honorary doctorate from Brock University in 2000. |

Kathryn (Kate) Chisholm, Q.C., ICD.D Ms. Chisholm became a Member in April 2015 and serves on the ASC's Governance Committee. She possesses more than 25 years of experience in the legal profession and is the senior vice-president, Legal and External Relations at Capital Power where she leads the organization’s legal, regulatory, government, stakeholder and media relations functions. A member of several boards, Ms. Chisholm is currently the Regional Chair for Legal Leaders for Diversity, the founder and Chair of MORE Mentoring Program for Young Female Professionals and is a member of the Mayor’s Taskforce of the Elimination of Poverty (Edmonton). In addition to a law degree from the University of Alberta, Ms. Chisholm holds a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2010 for her outstanding contributions to the legal profession and public life, and in 2014 was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. |

Steven Cohen, LL.B Mr. Cohen became a Member in April 2018 and serves on the ASC's Human Resources Committee. He has over 35 years of experience in the legal profession and is currently a partner in the securities group at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP, focusing on capital markets activities, where he advises issuers, investment firms and other market participants on public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, recapitalizations, corporate governance, proxy matters and regulatory compliance. Mr. Cohen has served on advisory committees of both the ASC and the Ontario Securities Commission. He holds an LL.B from the University of Toronto. |

Raymond Crossley, CPA, CA, ICD.D Mr. Crossley became a Member in April 2018 and serves on the ASC's Audit Committee. He is a highly experienced financial professional and corporate director. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the Calgary Health Trust, and also serves on the board of directors of Obsidian Energy Ltd. and the Canada West Foundation. Before retiring from PwC in 2015, Mr. Crossley served as Managing Partner, Western Canada and was the audit partner on a broad range of public companies primarily in the energy sector. Prior to becoming a partner, Mr. Crossley worked in PwC’s offices in Toronto, New York and London. He has previously served as a member of the ASC’s Financial Review Committee and the Financial Advisory Committee. Mr. Crossley holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Economics and Political Science. |

Trudy Curran, ICD.D Ms. Curran became a member in May 2017 and serves on the ASC’s Human Resources Committee. She has over 30 years of experience as a legal professional and business leader across a wide range of industries including energy and transportation. Most recently, she was senior vice-president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Canadian Oil Sands Limited. Now serving as a professional director, Ms. Curran sits on the board of directors for the Dominion Diamond Corporation, Baytex Energy Corp. and the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta. Ms. Curran holds an LLB with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law. She also holds the Institute of Corporate Directors designation and serves on the executive committee of the ICD’s Calgary chapter. |

Karen Kim CA, CFA Ms. Kim became a member in May 2017 and serves on the ASC’s Audit Committee. She possesses over 20 years of experience in capital markets, derivatives, risk management and investments. She has worked in progressively more senior finance roles at Petro-Canada and Suncor Energy, most recently as director, corporate finance. Ms. Kim holds a B.Comm (Accounting) from the University of Calgary, and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. |

Bradley Nemetz, Q.C. Mr. Nemetz became a Member in April 2013 and serves as Chair of the ASC’s Governance Committee. He is a partner in the litigation department at Bennett Jones LLP. Mr. Nemetz has served as a bencher of The Law Society of Alberta and has also chaired a number of Law Society committees and taskforces including the Conduct Committee, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Professional Committee, Third-Party Funding Taskforce and Trust Funds Taskforce. Mr. Nemetz is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2002. |

James (Jim) Oosterbaan, ICD.D Mr. Oosterbaan became a member in May 2017 and serves on the ASC’s Audit Committee. He has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, with extensive experience in the commodity and derivatives markets. Most recently, he was the president and chief executive officer of NGX, part of the TMX Group. Before joining the TMX, he spent over 10 years in senior management positions with Capital Power Corporation and its predecessor company, EPCOR. Mr. Oosterbaan holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, the Institute of Corporate Directors designation and has completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University. He also currently serves as an Advisor to the McRock Investment Fund, as a Director for Cups2Go and a Director for Chestermere Public Utilities. |

Ann Rooney, FCA, ICD.D Ms. Rooney became a Member in April 2013, is on the ASC’s Governance Committee and serves as the Lead Independent Member. She has 25 years experience in the accounting profession and became a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1996. She is a past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and has served on many of the provincial and national committees involved in the governance of the profession. Ms. Rooney has been a director on a number of corporate and not-for profit boards and is presently a director of Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities, Blackbridge, Horizon North Logistics Inc, and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. In addition to her education in accounting, Ms. Rooney also has a Masters in Environmental Science. |

Maryse Saint-Laurent, ICD.D Ms. Saint-Laurent became a member in July 2016 and serves as Chair of the ASC’s Human Resources Committee. She possesses more than 20 years of experience in the legal profession and is currently a consultant providing board advisory services on matters such as corporate governance, risk management and compliance program development. Prior, Ms. Saint-Laurent was the Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary at TransAlta Corporation and Senior Legal Counsel for TransCanada Corporation. She has served as a director of several private companies both domestically and internationally, and is presently a board director of the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre and the Western Sky Land Trust. Ms. Saint-Laurent holds an LL.M. from York University’s Osgoode Hall law school. |
